Information about the Print
An early experimental colour print, using coloured oil-based printing inks, whereas the later colour prints are ‘inked’ with oil paint rather than printing ink.
The
bare etched steel plate was ‘painted’ with the variously coloured inks - blue, yellow, violet and brown, and an impression taken on dampened paper. The plate was cleaned, inked with black and wiped as usual for an intaglio etching
and then printed, in registration, over the still damp colour impression.
