Etching, 1975. Completed state. First issue, printed and published in 1976 by Tanner himself, in an edition of only 12. (A further 30 impressions were published by Garton 1981-84.) Signed in pencil and dated ’76. On cream laid paper.

Additional Information about the Print

This joyous splash of May blossom calls to my mind Palmer’s blossom tree in the water and body colour of the V&A’s ‘In a Shoreham Garden’, c1829.

The drawing of the stile in Kington Langley dates back to the 1930’s, but was only etched in 1976. The artist’s parents were betrothed beneath this tree in 1898.
