Additional
Information about the Print
Walcot reworked the plate in 1919 and further
impressions were printed though the number is not
recorded. From the pencil signature and paper this
impression is probably in the 1st state.
An
impression was included in the Fine Art Society
1914 one-man exhibition of Walcot’s etchings
with the title A Greek Lady - BC 400 though
in more recent exhibitions it has been called A
Greek Lady of the 6th Century BC.
Also included in the James Connell 1918 one-man
exhibition of Walcot.
Based on one of the archaic female figures in
the Acropolis Museum, Athens.
