Information about the Print
In his Autobiography, Blaker, wrote that as a student at Brighton Art School in 1947
“My room at my parents’ house still possessed - … - much of its original museum-like aura: stuffed owls still hanging down on strings from the ceiling (he had taught himself taxidermy), preserved and mounted squirrels, fox masks, weapons, Landseer engravings of dogs, two wood carvings, and cases of insects. I used these last items as still-life subjects, and made a drypoint – my first incursion into this wonderful medium – from a stag beetle in my collection.”
