Information about the Print
Exhibited at the 1947 ‘Sussex Artists’ exhibition at the Brighton Art Gallery.
The Brighton railway yard and Viaduct seen from the artist’s studio window.
In his Autobiography Blaker wrote, that inspired to have his own studio by Du Maurier’s Trilby, he with three friends from the Art School
“rented a large upstairs room in the Lewes Road, picturesquely near the Viaduct.
This had been bombed in the war, and a huge drawing by Muirhead Bone, of the scene under reconstruction, hung in the Brighton Art Gallery.”
