Information about the Print
An old church hall next door to Brighton Art School had been converted to be a dance hall with a stage.
In 1957 Blaker, with other Brighton College students, formed a jazz ‘spasm’ band, The Eminent Victorians. They dressed in Victorian frock coats and played for dances in Brighton at local jazz clubs and in surrounding villages. Michael played the Swanee slide whistle and was himself a great jiver. He also played the mouth organ and jazz piano.
