Additional
Information about the Print
The
hedges and lane are taken from a farmer’s
track in Newbold, Warwickshire, where the artist
grew up, the rest is from his imagination, with
a nod at Palmer in the moon and rabbit, the human
presence, and the ‘blackness’ of
the Shoreham ink drawings from c1830.
Boyd
made a finished black ink drawing first and wanted
his etching “to remain as true to the pen
and ink drawing as I could make it”.
The
introductory text to the Samuel
Palmer Legacy exhibition includes further
information about Kit
Boyd.
