Information about the Print
Originally constructed in 1062 the first Torlonga (‘long tower’) was destroyed by earthquake in 1117 but rebuilt 1237-1256. In early days it was used as a prison and in 1777 became the Astronomical Observatory of the University of Padua.
(In 2000 La Torlonga Association was founded, to recover forgotten or little known sites of Padua’s historical, artistic and cultural heritage.) |
