Information about the Print
After their move to Rochester the Blakers acquired two young dogs.
As the dogs grew, they began to attend local summer festivals which always had an exemption dog show.
Quite a number of small related plates ensued.
Blaker had always been fond of including dogs in his compositions and in 1973 had suggested an article on painting dogs to the Artist magazine, which proved to be an introduction to his future wife. Catriona McTurk at that time had just become the new assistant editor and commissioned him to write it.
