Information about the Print
The two figures are probably gathering either horta (greens) or snails for the kitchen.
The
Villa Ariadne was built by Sir Arthur Evans at
Knossos after his discovery of the Minoan palace,
when the site was his own property. It subsequently
became owned by the Greek government but continues
to be used as a base for visiting scholars from
the British School at Athens and other similar
archaeological institutions.
Through
the 1980’s Jeff made regular summer visits to
Crete as archaeological draughtsman to the British
School of Athens’ digs at Knossos. |
