One of the four lions of the Fontana dei Quattro Leoni, built 1828, around the base of the ancient Egyptian obelisk in the centre of the Piazza del Popolo.
Provenance: by descent from the artist to his widow Lady Holroyd; to their son Michael; to Michael’s godson.
