Information about the Print
The Villa Capra, known as “La Rotonda”, is one of the most celebrated Palladian villas of the Veneto.
Set on a hilltop outside of Vicenza, it is completely symmetrical, with four identical facades.
Begun
in 1567, it would inspire many subsequent buildings,
and was itself inspired by the Pantheon in Rome.
Walcot
responded to the historical romance of the building
and etched a coach and horses arriving at the
entrance. |
